Product Use & Care

Teakettle – READ FIRST

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • BEFORE FIRST USE, wash the inside and outside with hot soapy water, rinse and dry.
  • When you fill your teakettle, make sure the WATER LEVEL IS BELOW THE SPOUT.
  • Place your teakettle directly on the center of a back burner, ideally the smallest one.
  • After the water boils, turn off the heat and allow the teakettle to stand for 15 seconds.
  • Using an oven mitt, flip/pull the whistle open and point the spout away from you before pouring.
  • Empty your teakettle when not in use.
  • Enjoy!

IMPORTANT WARNINGS:

  • Teakettle handle and whistle may get hot. ALWAYS WEAR OVEN MITTS WHEN HANDLING TEAKETTLE OR FLIPPING THE WHISTLE LEVER OPEN to prevent possible burn injury.
  • DO NOT LEAVE A HEATING TEAKETTLE UNATTENDED - forgotten teakettles boil dry.
  • DO NOT RELY ON THE WHISTLE to remind you about an unattended teakettle - occasionally the whistle may not sound.
  • ALWAYS POINT THE SPOUT AWAY FROM YOU WHEN BOILING WATER OR OPENING THE SPOUT.
  • Leaving a dry teakettle on a hot burner can melt the enamel/aluminum base damaging the teakettle and burner. TURN OFF HEAT and do not remove teakettle until it has cooled.
  • DO NOT OVERFILL the teakettle - this can cause boiling water to be forced out of the spout.
  • Always use your teakettle on a back burner to keep it out of the reach of small children.
  • Use a burner smaller in diameter than the kettle to help prevent excess heat from making the handle hotter than necessary.
  • Steam escaping from the lid or spout can burn you. WAIT until water has cooled, or use an oven mitt to protect your hand.
  • GAS STOVE RECOMMENDATION: To prevent flames from melting the plastic whistle casing, place teakettle directly in the center of the smallest burner. The whistle will not melt on any other type of stove unless the kettle is left unattended and the water boils dry.
